Planning and CPOs

We are experienced in all aspects of planning law.

Compulsory purchase and compensation arising from it has formed a significant proportion of our work for a number of years. We have advised clients on compulsory purchase orders on the London Olympic site, Manchester Ancoats and Wembley regenerations. We have achieved significant results both for compensation and withdrawal of compulsory purchase orders.

We are regularly asked to:

  • advise on section 106 agreements and CIL, planning obligations and listed buildings
  • draft agreements for the sale and purchase of land subject to planning consents
  • provide advocacy at inquiries and planning appeals. We assemble a team of experts capable of advancing your aims
  • deal with enforcement proceedings and defending all types of local authority action

The use by councils of enforcement powers is increasing. We advise on all legal issues involved, file appeals and defend prosecutions for breaches of enforcements notices where negotiated settlements are not possible.
